Brilliant Black outside and red nearly everywhere else, the 1993 Limited Edition remains one of the boldest factory-built NAs. The 1,500-car numbered U.S. series paired red leather with matching carpet, mats, boot, and tonneau cover beneath a black soft top; each car's sequence number was engraved on its supplied key fob.

This was not just a color-and-trim exercise. Mazda added 14-inch BBS wheels, revised springs with Bilstein dampers, a front air dam, rear skirt and lip spoiler, ABS, and a viscous limited-slip differential. A Nardi leather shift knob, stainless-steel sill plates, air conditioning, and the Mazda Sensory Sound System with CD player and seatback bass transducers completed the package. The 1.6-liter drivetrain came with a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic.
