Underneath, it retained the S-Special's focused hardware: a 120 PS 1.6-liter engine, five-speed manual, 4.3 final drive, Bilstein dampers, and a front tower brace. A Nardi leather steering wheel and shift knob, stainless sill plates and speaker surrounds, headrest speakers, and the Mazda Sensory Sound System with seatback bass transducers made the cockpit every bit as memorable as the exterior.
