The 1994 M Edition introduced Montego Blue Mica to the U.S. Miata, and its rich blue-green paint over tan leather became an instant signature for the M Edition line. Mazda built 3,000 with a tan top and boot, polished seven-spoke wheels, and factory-black lower sills.
Inside were a Nardi wood shift knob and parking-brake handle, stainless M Edition sill plates, custom mats, air conditioning, cruise control, power accessories, and headrest speakers. Five-speed manual cars received a Torsen limited-slip differential; the optional four-speed automatic deleted it but included ABS. A hardtop and ABS were otherwise optional. Priced at $21,250 before freight and options, each car also came with an M Edition key-ring, badge, and lapel-pin set. As a bonus for gauge-watchers, 1994 was the last Miata model year with a functioning analog oil-pressure gauge.
