Deep Merlot Mica over tan leather gave the 1995 M Edition a rich, mature character without losing the NA's playful core. Mazda produced 3,500 for the U.S., each with a tan vinyl soft top, embossed Miata script on the low-back seats, 15-inch BBS wheels, and P195/50R15 performance tires.
The details made it feel properly complete: a leather Nardi shift knob, cut-pile carpeting, stainless M Edition sill plates, branded mats and exterior badges, plus a gift set with key fob, lapel pin, and badge. The 128-hp 1.8-liter engine came with a standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic; manual cars received the Torsen limited-slip differential. Air conditioning, ABS, cruise control, power accessories, and a CD audio system were included.
