Evolution Orange Mica shifts from copper to burnt orange as the light moves across it, giving the curvier NB bodywork a color with real depth. Offered for the 2000 model year, it could be ordered across the normal U.S. Miata range, from black-cloth cars to LS models with tan leather and a tan top, with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The color earned a permanent place in MX-5 history before the model year even arrived: Mazda's 500,000th MX-5 was finished in Evolution Orange Mica and equipped with leather seats. It may not have been a separately packaged edition, but it remains one of the NB's most unmistakable factory finishes.
