German enthusiasts chose the Senshu name themselves, and Mazda rewarded them with a focused 200-car Roadster Coupé. Offered in red, white, or black, it wore contrasting side graphics, dark 17-inch wheels, a black rear diffuser and grille surround, and larger sports exhaust outlets. The name translates roughly as player, an apt title for an MX-5 built to join in rather than watch.

Every Senshu used the 160 PS 2.0-liter engine, six-speed manual, and power-retractable hardtop. Light-grey heated leather brought contrast to the dark exterior details, while an optional 30 mm suspension drop made the stance even sharper.
