Mazda Italy built only four Yamamoto Signature roadsters as a tribute to longtime MX-5 program manager Nobuhiro Yamamoto. Each began as a 1.5-liter Exceed soft top in Jet Black Mica, then gained red-accented aerodynamic pieces, a red front strut brace, and a hand-finished cabin mixing grey leather and Alcantara with red suede at the major touch points. Yamamoto's signature was embroidered across the passenger-side dashboard.

The choice of the 131 PS 1.5-liter engine was deliberate, favoring lightness, response, and the rev-hungry character Yamamoto felt best expressed the MX-5. A numbered door plaque, certificate, presentation box, and signed sketch made each car personal. An available performance kit added Enkei RPF1 wheels, Toyo semi-slick tires, Öhlins suspension, and Brembo front brakes for an even purer driver's specification.
