The 2012 Special Edition gave the NC Miata a sharper, more assertive character. Velocity Red or Crystal White Pearl bodywork contrasted with North America's first factory black Power Retractable Hard Top, joined by black mirrors, grille detailing, and 17-inch Black Gunmetal wheels. Inside, heated black leather with grey stitching and piano-black trim continued the theme without overwhelming the Miata's simple cockpit.
