Thirty years after the original MX-5 debuted at the Chicago Auto Show, Mazda returned with an anniversary car impossible to ignore. Gloss Racing Orange, an exclusive color inspired by the yellow MX-5 Miata Club Racer shown in Chicago in 1989, covered both soft-top and RF versions. Production totaled 3,001 worldwide, with 643 ultimately allocated to the United States.

Based on the 2019 Grand Touring, the U.S. edition paired the 181-hp Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter with a six-speed manual or automatic. Exclusive Dark Gunmetal RAYS ZE40 RS30 forged wheels framed orange four-piston Brembo front and Nissin rear calipers. Inside, heated RECARO seats mixed Alcantara with orange stitching and piping, echoed by Alcantara on the doors and lower dashboard. A non-sequential serialized badge on the driver-side rear fender marked each car, while manual models received Bilstein dampers.
